Another project from my time at college. This time was to create a book cover based on a book that we liked. I chose The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling as I've always found the story really lovely.
I started creating different concepts using different mediums, including collage, watercolour, sketched and photographic, but then based on the drawings I had done, I was inspired to use the illustrations to create a background pattern for the books and then started creating some concepts just using text on top of these patterns, stacking the title and then using the illustrations around and behind the text. I really enjoyed creating this and surprisingly the final product came together quite quickly.
We then had an extension task we could start if we wanted to, which I did. We were asked to create a collection of new book covers with books from the same author, so I researched other books by Rudyard Kipling and found Captain Courageous and Just So Stories. I then created some illustrations like the ones I had created for the Jungle Book and put them all together.
I really enjoyed putting this together and am incredibly proud of the final result.
